Read about how FERC (the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) is controlled by big business.  This independent agency of the federal government is the entity that is asking the Obama Administration for MORE power so that they can override state public service commission authority.   If a state declines a high powered transmission line project, FERC wants to be able to step in and declare eminent domain so that the power companies can pursue their project.

PJM Interconnection is the regional electricity router for the eastern portion of the United States.  PJM has approved many high powered transmission line projects and they do not have the numbers to back them up.  Even so, there is still speculation that they have covert control over FERC.  You can read more on PJM Interconnection at www.PJMsucks.com

For now - satisfy your curiousity on dirty corrupt projects that will yank private property out of the hands of WV citizens and which have been approved by FERC at www.PATHofdestruction.org.  This state has already been ravaged by mountain top removal and Allegheny Energy and American Electric want to rip through 287 miles of largely private owned property and clear cut a way to the north east so that they can profit by bringing on dirty carbon emissions by more coal fired plants.  The way in which the Potomac Appalachian Transmission Highline was proposed reeks of corruption and lies.

Federal 4th Circuit Decision ruled last year that FERC did not have the power to over-rule state decisions on transmission power lines.  The electricity industry obviously did not like this.  So more recently, they appealed to the supreme court so that FERC could obtain more power and step in and force a transmission line through a state even if the state PSC denied it.

The supreme court refused to hear the case.
